1st Book completed, 1st book in the Hearts in Hazard series.

Originally called Smuggler's Price, then the story altered on me

and altered again once I wrote my next Hearts in Hazard novel, A Game of Spies.

And it altered a third time when I wrote my 4th novel but my 3rd Hearts in Hazard novel.

The Game of Spies began the idea of loosely-connected novels linked through characters. Minor characters in one book would become a major character in a following book. Protagonist Tony’s friend Giles became a major character in The Game of Spies.

So here is a writer’s problem: Start writing a stand-alone and discover that it’s connected. Then discover that the first three stand-alone manuscripts can turn into a loose series of books. Next realize that the vague ideas for other stand-alone stories can fit into the idea of a loose series.

Thus, Hearts in Hazard, the series, is born.
