The Key to Secrets
Constable Hector Evans returns to Chalmsley Court to solve a
violent murder. Hector has little evidence to build a case and plenty of
suspects for the bloody death—including the woman he once loved.
Dark hearts and sharp knives of The Key to Secrets create a compelling entry in the Hearts in Hazard series,
Available in ebook and paperback.

A lot of distractions and disruptions tried to interfere
with this book. I finished the prior book in April 2017; I finished this book
in January 2018. What’s that? Eight months. I didn’t struggle with this book; I
had too much happening in my life that interfered with desk-time for writing.
The book did flow whenever I managed desk time and devotion
to this book. I had a couple of other major projects and completed a nonfiction
guide with its companion planner (Think like a Pro and Think/Pro).
Yet I had several life rolls, not the least of which was selling my home and
moving 100 miles, to my dream location. I don’t begrudge those eight months at
all.
I love the inclusion of ballads in this novel. I think they deepen the mystery.
Constable Hector Evans originally appeared in The
Dangers to Hearts. I love his determined look on the cover; the designer did an excellent job providing him with period-accurate clothing. He makes a re-appearance, as a chief constable in London
in the companion books The Hazard of Secrets and The Hazard for Spies.
